Hi, I'm Jeri Aaron, living in central Texas and creating my art in a huge sunny studio.
My newest venture is planning and holding mixed media art retreats - you can find "all you ever needed to know" at my Texas Art Retreats blog - the link is on my blog.
I'm "Grami" to 4 grandchildren ranging from the ages of 17 to 8. The three girls are all artsy and are allowed to use my studio and many of my supplies whenever they want to. Their friends all know me as "Grami" too, and enjoy doing art in my studio. Many of the girly girls that come to my house are into altering books and making ATCs. Life is good!
My art journey began with rubber stamps more than eight years ago. Prior to this, I'd collected rubber stamps for several years - just wasn't putting ink to rubber. Soon I discovered the internet and other stampers - one thing led to another and I actually began to meet some of these online stampers - great friendships were formed! Then we began to meet for retreats in the beautiful land called IDAHO. My first retreat there was a time of much learning. There I was exposed to paint, cigar boxes, tissue paper, images and glue! And we made books too. Next came dominoes, tins, napkins, clay - all sorts of things to play around with. Next I created a Yahoo Group, An Affair With Art. I began to create my own books and then taught bookmaking classes at a local scrapbook store. On occasion I teach at my studio and at small art retreats.
I enjoy altering books and I'm also interested in western art. I have a sizeable collection of "cowboy" related stamps and images and continue to look for more. Deb Trotter is my all time fave western artist!
My online yahoo group, An Affair With Art, has been up and running for 6 years. In July of 2008, the group will hold it's 3rd annual Artful Gathering art retreat in Grapevine, Texas - this is such a turn on for me as it has been so successful - we have members from all over the USA flying into Dallas, TX for a long weekend of fun and art! If you are interested in knowing more about An Affair With Art, send me an email.
