Do Your Own Thing Art Retreat August 6-9, 2009

Treat yourself to a relaxing, fun filled gathering of artsy women.  You will find it easy to bounce ideas back & forth, share tips and art, etc.  The retreat will be held at the Allen House in Temple, Texas, August 6-9, 2009.  Arrival time: Thursday (August 6) at 3:00 p.m. (or later)  and depart on Sunday by 2:00 p.m.  There is space for 16 participants.  Total cost $135 per person. 

 

 There are two houses on the property available to retreat attendees.  Rooms/beds are available on a first come, first served basis.  Payment in full is expected when you reserve a spot at the retreat.  Checks for this retreat will not be processed until July 15th.  After July 15th, if you cancel, a $50 fee will be retained by Texas Art Retreats, and the rest of your payment will be returned to you.  You have the option of mailing a check or using Pay Pal.

 

Attendees will gather at the Allen House for art time and meals.  Shared tables will be set up in the lanai and living room where there are walls of windows that afford tranquil woodland views.

 

This is a lovely relaxing home.  Bring your art kits and whatever you want to work on for the weekend and join in the fun and camaraderie!  Do bring a desk lamp if you have one.

 

Attendees will be offered two small fun projects, one on Friday morning and the second on Saturday morning.  At the August retreat, attendees can create a wooden (2x4 block) ATC and dye tags using Adirondak color washes. 

 

Amenities:  There is a sitting room and TV in each house so that attendees have a place to "get away".  The Allen House also has a small quiet room that can be used for reading, etc.  There are lots of windows, patios, and the whole property is secluded.  Go to www.greenoaksfarm.com to view the houses.

 

Rules:  No children, no TV, no music in the art room.  Cell phones should be on vibrate and used outside the art room.  Plan to work on your art, enjoy good company, and relax. 

 

Sleeping Space:

The Allen House has sleeping space for up to 9/10 attendees along with 3 bathrooms.  The 1882 house sleeps 6 and has 1 bathroom. 

 

Foods Provided:

Light breakfasts - cereal, milk, fruit; toast & jam; coffee and hot tea 

Light lunches - sandwiches, fruit, salads

Bottled water is also provided

 

Thursday, Friday & Saturday dinner, you are on your own.  Lots of restaurants nearby along with pizza delivery.  Attendees are encouraged to bring favorite beverages and munchies.  Suppers can be prepared at the house if you want to chip in with others.

Texas Art Retreats presents another "Do Your Own Thing" art retreat April 30, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. May 3, 2009.

Friday and Saturday morning two small projects will be offered.  After the morning project is completed, the rest of the time is yours - "a do your own thing" time.  So be sure to pack supplies and projects tht you would like to work on during the weekend, and as always, bring your basic art kit.  Also bring an Ott desk lamp if you have one.

Cost is $135 for the weekend.  Supplies are provided for the small projects.  Total amount is due by April 10, 2009.

The retreat will be held at Greenoaks Farm, 5880 Hartrick Bluff Rd, Temple, Texas.  This is a secluded, quiet property that offers a glimpse of wildlife and has some walking trails.  There are two houses on the property.  The retreat will be held in The Allen House and sleeping will be in both houses.  There are a couple of very small rooms with single beds, but most of the sleeping areas have 2 beds per room.  There will be enough beds to sleep 16 women, and enough table space to accomodate 19-20 people.

Meals:  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  You're on your on for dinner meals.

Texas Art Retreats persents an art retreat February 5 (3:00 p.m.) through February 8 (3:00 p.m.), 2009.  Three 3 small projects will be offered, one to be held each morning.  After the morning projects are completed, the rest of the time is yours - "a do your own thing" time.  So be sure to pack supplies and projects that you would like to work on during the weekend, and as always, bring your basic art kit.

TEXAS ART RETREAT ANNOUNCEMENT

You are invited to a "Do Your Own Thing" art retreat - a relaxing, fun filled gathering of artsy women.  You will find it easy to bounce ideas back & forth, share tips, etc.  The retreat will be held in Temple, Texas, on September 18-21, arriving on Thursday at 2pm or later and leaving on Sunday by 11am.  There is space for 15 people.  Total cost $100 per person.

There are two houses on the property available to retreat attendees.  Rooms/beds are available on a first come, first served basis.  There is a $40 deposit upon signing up for the retreat that becomes non-refundable on August 15.  The balance is due when you arrive at the retreat.  Driving directions to Green Oaks Farm will be available at a later date.

You will gather in the Allen House for art time and meals.  Shared tables will be set up in the lanai where there is a wall of windows that affords a wonderful woodland view.  You will find this to be a lovely relaxing setting.

Commons - sleeper sofa, twin bed - 2 people

The dining room can be converted into a bedroom with twin beds - 2 people.  The use of the dining room will depend on the number of attendees.

The 1882 House -

1 BR - full bed - 1 person

1 BR - full bed, set of bunk beds - 3 people

Living room - King sofa bed - 1 person

A twin bed can be set up in the living room, depending on the number of attendees.

Meals Provided:

Light breakfasts - Friday, Saturday & Sunday - cereal, milk, fruit, coffee/hot tea

Light lunches - Friday & Saturday - sandwiches, chips

Pizza Party - Thursday evening

Friday & Saturday dinner - you are on your own.  Attendees are encouraged to bring drinks & snacks.  Restaurants are also very close by.
